structure

Verdi comprises a flexible series of code modules that enable authorised administrators to create, control, expand, and delegate site functionality.

core functionality
  • content separated from display - content is separated from display, allowing a single content object to display in multiple locations (content re-use), and greatly simplifying graphic updates and re-branding processes. Full version control and rollback is available for all Content Pool items. Content display may be scheduled to appear and archive as required, and configurable Meta data schemas applied to content objects.
  • dynamic navigation generation - authorised administrators may simply add and delete navigation links through an easy to use interface. The ability to administer navigation may be maintained as a central function, or may be devolved for defined site areas. Public visibility of the navigation structures is controlled by the security settings.
  • 'plug in plug out' application modules - application modules may be simply plugged in and plugged out of the core system as required. Each module may be used simultaneously at multiple site locations. A wide range of free and optional application modules are available for Verdi. Additional modules may be created and added to the system at any time through the administration area. Verdi modules are language independent and may be created in a wide range of programming languages such as ASPX, Cold Fusion, PHP, etc. Custom modules may be created to interface to any web based application, alternatively a secure link to third party applications may be added to the system in minutes.
  • graphic themes and skins - content display is controlled using changeable graphic skins and style sheets. The same content may thus appear in different contexts, and site areas may be 'themed' according to function. The whole site appearance may be quickly and easily changed by adding new graphic themes and style sheets, with no changes to content being required.
  • page templates - templates divide site pages into variable grid patterns. Administrators may accurately control the content and modules which may be displayed within each grid cell.
  • role based administration - a wide range of administrator roles may be deployed within the system, with Workflow connecting the approvals process. Permissions are highly granular and may range between single page and whole site access.
  • authentication and security - For Authentication Verdi may link and import groups from Active Directory or LDAP. In addition groups may be administered within the inbuilt authentication directory for both administrative privileges and public site access. SSL encryption may be applied to any site area using a single check box.
  • multiple URLs - Verdi supports multiple URLs from a single code instance, allowing multiple sites, or 'sites within sites' to be deployed.

technology

Verdi is an industrial strength system built using ASP/ASP.Net, COM, XML and AJAX technologies, and is designed to operate in a Microsoft hosting environment using Windows 2000 / 2003 Server and the SQL 2000 / 2005 database.

The system is highly scalable and may operate on single servers, or in a multiple load-balanced server environment. Verdi's dynamic caching allows individual page elements to be tagged and served from cache, thereby greatly increasing system performance.

URL masking technology allows search engine spiders to effectively catalogue dynamic pages, and standard log file analysers to accurately provide website statistics.
