What is hybrid architecture in mobile application development, and why is the hybrid structure agile?

A hybrid approach to building mobile applications means the core of the application and most of the business logic is built as a web application that can be utilized by both platforms Apple and Android. Then a lightweight native App is built to encapsulate this web App and provide the features that native applications are known for.  This method makes it difficult to tell if an App is native or hybrid, it has the functionality of both.

IBC Digital App Developers use a hybrid approach to coding and are strategic to ensure only the minimal business logic that is required is built directly into the native App. This ensures the best of both worlds, a much more economical way of keeping Apps up to date through a single core codebase, and a lower risk method of delivering this core functionality through lightweight native Apps.

Updates and maintenance are quick and easy for changing compliance rules. Meanwhile the core codebase can be updated on the web App as frequently as needed, without being at the whim of the App Stores approval processes.

Even the most popular Apps are built in a hybrid fashion. For example, Twitter, Evernote, and Instagram Apps are built this way, and IBC Digital have adopted this hybrid approach to application development. We have demonstrated the use of hybrid architecture in mobile applications in Apps we built for City of Perth Parking, Gascoyne Catchments Rangelands Monitoring and Cengage eCollection App.

For over 25 years, IBC Digital has developed Web and Mobile Applications to suit the specific needs of business.  Our applications are custom to integrate with the existing IT landscape, to streamline management, and to meet the needs of the target consumer. Our track record is tackling complex development challenges with creativity, rigour, and robust security standards.
